| I
can see again!

There are no words to describe the joy and gratitude when a poverty-stricken
person like Gladys* has her sight restored through a subsidised
cataract operation.
Living in a remote area far from medical help, she had been blind
for years before our Sight Saver team visited the area where she
lives.
Gladys was found to be a suitable candidate for cataract surgery
- and a few days later, when the bandages were removed, the miracle
was complete. She could see again.
Gladys is just one of over 3 000 rural people whose sight is restored
each year, thanks to our Bureau for the Prevention of Blindness.
This work is only possible through the dedication of our eye doctors,
who give freely of their time – and the support of generous
people like you, who contribute towards the cost of bandages, sutures,
eyedrops, spectacles and other equipment.
