During the five month long braille literacy training students are equipped with reading and writing skills. The skills give them unlimited access to braille literature and enable them to independently record information for personal use.
 

Braille is crucial for acquiring information, studying and employment situations. Braille literacy provides people with employment opportunities such as manufacturing of braille devices, teaching, braille production and proofreading.

Optima offers training on the Unified English Braille Code (UEBC) as well as Afrikaans braille. The UEBC is the internationally accepted English braille code with all the contractions for English – including science and mathematics.
