Overview from Our Treasurer:

Notes on our Financial Position for the 2011 Biennial  Report

At the outset , allow us to record our appreciation to all our partners, donors and friends who support the work of the SANCB through their financial contributions. Times are tough and we rely on the faithfulness of our supporters. We record special thanks to our individual donors who maintained their commitment to the SANCB. The fundraising landscape has changed tremendously and we are constantly reviewing our resource generation strategies to meet the new challenges. We reflect a slight drop in income from fundraising over the two year period.

We have now consolidated our accounts and have brought the income from the Lottery directly into the 2011 year financials.

We are in the people business and require qualified people and as expected staff costs increased over the two years by 23%. As a responsible employer, we will meet all reasonable demands for increases, but need to be aware that with limited funds we have to be very prudent in allocation of resources.

Cash and cash equivalents dropped by some 43% over the two years indicating a whittling away of security for the future. We have to realign our spending patterns to meet this challenge and ensure financial stability.

Regards,
Philip Bam

How we spend your money

We have so many services where we can utilise your donation. We can use it to provide training to students at our Optima College in either computer literacy, call centre or braille literate.

Or we can use it to subsidise essential equipment for visually impaired persons, like a white cane or a braille machine.

Or we can use it to restore sight to people who are needlessly blind. Imagine the difference you can make in the life of an individual if you help transform him from blind to sighted!

You can leave it up to us to decide where the money are the most desperately needed, or you can specify which service you would like to support. Also visit the section on special projects you can support by clicking here. Maybe you will find something you feel strongly about supporting.
